Director's Statement

The Narrator series is a deeply personal project for me, not just as a filmmaker, but as a father, an artist, and someone who has spent years chasing a passion for storytelling through practical effects and horror. A major part of that drive comes from my daughter. She is the reason I push harder, think bigger, and refuse to settle. Watching her creativity and imagination reminds me of why I fell in love with storytelling in the first place. She sees the world without limits, and that perspective challenges me to do the same. Everything I create now carries a piece of that because at the end of the day, I want her to see that chasing what you love is not only possible, but worth it. With The Draugr episode, I was drawn to the rawness of Norse mythology. These weren't just horror stories, they were reflections of survival, fear, and honor. I wanted to tell a story that feels grounded in that reality, where the stakes are not only life and death, but legacy. The character of Bjorn represents that idea. He is not a hero seeking recognition, but a man willing to sacrifice everything for his family and his people. That kind of selflessness is something I connect to deeply as a father. From a creative standpoint, this project allowed me to fully embrace my background in practical effects. I've always believed there is something powerful about what is physically built, something tangible that audiences can feel. The Draugr itself was designed to feel ancient and real, like a presence that has existed long before us and will continue long after. That sense of realism is essential to my approach to horror, it is not just about what you see, but what you believe could be real. At its core, The Draugr is about sacrifice, legacy, and the stories we choose to carry forward. It is about the marks we leave behind, whether through our actions or through the stories others tell about us. This film is a reflection of where I am in my life right now, balancing passion, purpose, and fatherhood and it represents the beginning of the stories I want to continue telling.
